Ingredients

  • 1 medium head of green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 lb smoked sausage (kielbasa or andouille), sliced into rounds
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 medium carrots, sliced (optional, for sweetness)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Layer the Ingredients – Place chopped cabbage in the bottom of the slow cooker. Add sliced sausage, onion, garlic, and carrots (if using).
  2. Season & Add Liquid – Sprinkle with paprika, pepper, and a pinch of salt. Pour in the chicken broth. Dot the top with butter.
  3. Cook Low & Slow – Cover and cook on Low for 6–7 hours or High for 3–4 hours, until the cabbage is tender and the flavors meld together.
